How to Draw a Scary Wolf

    • 1). Begin drawing your wolf in profile, with the snout facing to your left. Draw the snout first, beginning with a line for the top of the snout. Continue the line of the snout at an angle to begin forming the wolf's head. Sketch an oval shape at the top of this section. Angle the oval back (to the right) slightly. This is an ear. Move back to where you began your first line and curve the line around to form the interior of the mouth. Continue the curve to form the lower portion of the snout and open mouth.

    • 2). Draw an eye on your wolf -- a horizontal oval with a slight slit. Place the eye near where the snout ends, just below the ear of your wolf. Add shading around the eye to bring out some depth. Add a little shading inside the eye as well, then use the corner of your eraser or fingertip to apply a slight smudge in the center to give the eye a wet look.

    • 3). Sketch a top and bottom row of triangle shaped teeth in your wolf's mouth, with the single point of the triangle facing down on the upper part of the mouth and facing up on the lower part of the mouth. Add a few teardrop shapes coming off the teeth to make it look as if your wolf is slobbering or foaming at the mouth.

    • 4). Draw a line continuing from where you left off at the top of the head to form a slope for the neck of the wolf. Continue drawing this line to create your wolf's back. The lines doesn't need to be perfectly straight. You'll shade in fur later that will cover it up. Draw a fat oval shape at the end of the body of your wolf for the tail, then sketch in the legs. At the end of each leg, make a rounded shape for the paw and draw curved claws on them.

    • 5). Shade your wolf with pencil. Use side-to-side strokes to apply the shading, going over the shading several times, letting the hard lines left behind by the pencil form the wolf's fur. As you shade your drawing in, let some of your pencil strokes go outside the lines of the body to enhance the look of fur.
