    • 1). Confirm your eligibility. The applicant for a concealed weapons permit in Florida must be at least 18 years old and demonstrate competency with a firearm. Unless you are a service member serving overseas, you must be a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. or hold a permanent residence card (Green Card). You may be ineligible to receive a concealed weapons permit due to your criminal history or physical or mental health impairments (see Resources).

    • 2). Apply at a regional office. The Division of Licensing regional offices are equipped to assist you in applying for a concealed weapons permit quickly and efficiently on-site. Call the regional office for an appointment and the regional office staff will help you through the application process. The regional office for Orange County is the Orlando office located at 400 W. Robinson St., Room 110, Orlando, Florida 32801. You may reach the office by phone at 407-245-0883 to schedule an appointment.

    • 3). Complete the Concealed Weapon or Firearm License Application. If you choose not to visit the regional office, you may submit a paper application form. This form is available on the Florida Division of Licensing website. You may also call the regional office in Orlando to have a paper application mailed to your address.

    • 4). Submit your fingerprints. Whether you apply at a regional office or via the paper application, you must submit a copy of your fingerprints. When applying at the regional office, the staff will collect your fingerprints on-site. If applying with the paper application, you must submit a legible set of fingerprints with your application. You can have your fingerprints rolled at your local law enforcement agency.

    • 5). Submit a photograph. When applying at the regional office, the staff will take your photograph. If you are applying with the paper application, include a passport-style color photograph with your application.

    • 6). Pay fees. The Concealed Weapons Licensing fee totals $117. This includes a $75 license fee and a $42 fingerprint processing fee. If your fingerprints were collected electronically, you do not have to pay the fingerprint processing fee.

    • 7). Keep one copy of your paper application. If you choose to submit a paper application, it will contain a tracking number unique to you. This means that you cannot make copies of the application for another person's use. You may track the status of your application using the tracking number on the Florida Division of Licensing website.

    • 8). Mail the paper application to the Tallahassee Regional office at P.O. Box 6687, Tallahassee, Florida 32314-6687.
