    • 1). Unfold the back flush hose connected to the drain outlet at the bottom of the pump.

    • 2). Turn off the pump. Turn the valve to the "Backwash" position. On the multiport, you turn the handle, and lift up on the handle on the slide valve so it is pointing upwards to turn it to "Backwash."

    • 3). Turn on the pump and allow it to backwash until the water runs clear. Look at the sight glass on the side of the pump, when you see clear water and no dirt passing through, turn off the pump. If you don't have a sight glass, you can run the pump for one minute and turn off the pump.

    • 4). Turn the valve to "Rinse" on the multiport. If you have a slide valve, move the handle to "Filter" and push down. Turn the pump on and run for one more minute. Turn off the pump.

    • 5). Repeat the process as needed to get dirt out of the filter.

    • 6). Check the pump to make sure you have turned it off. Open the bleeder screw to release the built up pressure. The screw is on the opposite side of the pressure gauge. Once the air has stopped coming out, tighten the screw.

    • 7). Turn the valve to the "Filter" position. Turn the pump on.
