  • 1). Fold a piece of white A4 paper in half widthwise.

  • 2). Draw a small dot with a pencil roughly in the middle of the folded edge. Using a pencil and ruler, make a line from this dot heading toward the opposite side of the paper. This line should be 2 inches long.

  • 3). Cut along the line with a pair of scissors. Fold the paper back at both sides of the cut to create two triangular flaps. Unfold these flaps.

  • 4). Unfold the entire sheet of paper; the 2-inch cut will now measure 4 inches long. The folds in the paper will also make a diamond shape. This whole section will become the mouth of your moving character.

  • 5). Fold the paper slightly to make a tent shape.

  • 6). Push both halves of the diamond shape through the paper so it emerges from the other side.

  • 7). Close the paper completely, halving it again. You should now see a triangular gap with no visible flaps. Unfold the sheet of paper again.

  • 8). Draw a character around the cut in the middle, which should represent the mouth. Color the character using colored pencils, pens or paints.

  • 9). Fold this paper in half so the plain side is visible. You should see a triangular gap in the middle, rather than flaps.

Fold a second piece of paper in half widthwise, and cover the entire inside with glue. Fit this paper around the outside of the the original folded paper so the edges align. Press down everywhere so the pieces of paper stick together.

Fold a piece of A4 card in half widthwise; this card will serve as the cover. Layer the center fold with glue.

Fold A4 sheets of paper in half widthwise; the amount of paper you use depends on how many pages you desire.

Insert one of the folded pieces of A4 paper into the glued crease so the folded edge makes contact with the glue. Keep adding the folded paper to the glued crease in this fashion, checking to ensure the paper with the moving character acts as the center pages.
