How to Act Around Guys
- 1). Exhibit cool confidence. Guys prefer to hang out with girls that don’t need constant compliments and reassurance. Let them see that you have what it takes to blend in with their crowd. Guys must understand that your confidence lies within you and not their words before they can accept you. Being able to stand on your own is an important trait in guy society.
- 2). Laugh at their jokes. Learn to take guy banter with a smile. You may be exposed to jokes and language that would offend the average girl. Understand that guy interactions often center around teasing . Try not to spoil the moment by lecturing them on proper behavior and good manners. Step off your soapbox and join the fun to really appreciate your time with the guys.
- 3). Express your boundaries without being rude. Everyone has their limits and it’s acceptable to express them. Sometimes it’s necessary to let the guys know where you draw the line to avoid any confusion. For example, you may not like to be the center of crude humor. Guys appreciate being told things in a direct manner. Although you’re with the boys, you’re not just one of the boys.
- 4). Show your many dimensions. Although you may enjoy shopping or cheerleading, you must take care to avoid being stereotyped. Let the guys see that you’re more than just a “girl.” Talk to them about things that interest them including sports. This will show your willingness to connect with them on a deeper level and elevate your status. Guys enjoy being around girls they can relate to on many levels.
- 5). Stay true to yourself. Avoid the temptation of doing whatever it takes to get attention. This behavior is easily recognizable and can lead to a bad reputation. Guys can be interested in you for the wrong reasons. Use your personality and conversational skills to make friends with the guys. Never degrade yourself for their attention. There’s always another group of guys around the corner that will like you for who you truly are.
