How to Make Brochures on WordPad

    • 1). Gather your information and pictures before you start on the brochure. Make a general layout of how you want it to look. You can draw it on a piece of paper or mentally lay it out in your head. Do not forget to include contact information in the layout.

    • 2). Open WordPad and start a new document. Two documents will need to be created for the brochure. One will be the outside and the other will be the inside.

    • 3). Format your brochure. Select "File" and locate "Page Setup." Change the orientation of the page to "Landscape." Click the "Format" tab and select "Tabs." Set the tabs at 3 and 6 inches. These tabs will indicate the panels on the brochure.

    • 4). Import your pictures into the document and adjust the sizes so they fit in between the tabs. Open the pictures you wish to add. Copy and paste the pictures into the document where they belong.

    • 5). Type the text into the document or copy and paste the text. Make sure the text does not go over the tabs. A good rule of thumb is to leave three spaces on each side of the tab.

    • 6). Proofread the text for errors. It is always good to have a second person also proofread the brochure.

    • 7). Save the document. It is a good idea to title the document brochure front or brochure back.

    • 8). Repeat the steps 2 through 6 for the other side of your brochure.

    • 9). Test the printer to see how it feeds and prints. Place an X on the top sheet of paper in the drawer then print one sheet. When it is printed the X will show you which side of the paper it prints on. Print out one page of the brochure then insert the brochure back into the printer to print the other side. It is best to use a thin card stock paper for brochures. Printer paper is thin and does not convey professional printing.
