Costume Ideas for Preteens
- Use a movie monster or villain to create a horrifying costume.halloween image by L. Shat from Fotolia.com
If your preteen is looking to create a scare on Halloween, try watching the latest horror movies for some scary ideas. Preteens may choose to dress as their favorite movie monster such as Jason or Michael Myers. Or, for a bloody good scare, preteens can visit thrift shops and purchase used prom dresses. With some fake blood and the right make-up, create a zombie prom queen or an updated version of Carrie. - Help your preteen select a costume sure to make his friends grin. Use wit to help create the costume. Does your preteen want to be a non-scary serial (cereal) killer? Then grab a box of cereal and a plastic knife. Other silly suggestions include going back in time -- your preteen can pick a favorite animated character or kid's television show host. Dress as that character for fun flashbacks.
- If a preteen is planning to spend Halloween with his friends, then the group can choose a theme and all dress to match. Potential theme ideas include dressing as a favorite band, dressing as characters from a cartoon (such as Scooby Doo), or even dressing as characters from a movie (for example, the cast of X-Men). Depending on the number of individuals in the group, you can find a group theme that will match your needs.
- If the preteen has a favorite celebrity such as a movie star, athlete, or even a singer, then pick a costume to match that celebrity. For a famous soccer player such as David Beckham, select a soccer costume just like your idol -- be sure to include cleats, shin guards, and, of course, the soccer ball. If you want to be Paris Hilton, be sure to pick up a very blond wig at a costume shop.
