How to Practice Your Golf Swing in Winter
- 1). Place a plastic cup against a wall in your house or purchase a putting practice mat. Practice putting into the cup or on the mat. This works best on a carpeted surface. The old golf adage that one drives for show and putts for dough is very true. Keeping your putting stroke fresh will help eliminate many needless strokes when you get back on the course.
- 2). Use a sponge or Wiffle practice golf ball to swing indoors. Make sure you have room enough for a full swing without hitting any walls or ceilings. Even half swings will help with your pitching and chipping, if ceiling height is limited.
- 3). Utilize some of the motion-sensing game consoles available to help keep your form. Golf games on such gaming systems as the Wii can give reasonably accurate results, but more importantly, allow you to go through the swinging motion.
- 4). Search your local directory for indoor driving ranges or places with golf simulators. A driving range with heated tee boxes, or a large, inflatable temporary range, allows you to practice during the cold season. Golf simulators are designed to let you hit a ball into a screen with your full, normal swing and simulate the results in a video-game format. These aren't always exceptionally accurate but it beats not playing at all.
- 5). Video tape your swing with a camera. Set up the camera on a tripod and video tape yourself, from different angles, making practice swings. You can play back the video and analyze your swing, making adjustments as necessary.
