Halloween Pirate Party Ideas

Incorporate ship-themed items such as rope, wooden buckets and sails into your decorations. Try using large palm trees or strategically placed plants to give your home an island feel. Tie a pirate-like skull-and-crossbones flag on your door. Place a large "X" on each bathroom door. Cover the main table with a large sheet of brown paper. Tear the sides, and wrinkle the edges. Draw a map on the paper connecting each of your dishes with dotted lines. - "X" marks the spot!Stockbyte/Stockbyte/Getty Images
Serve your food in treasure chests or shell-shaped bowls. Cook up some fried fish or fish soup, and serve it with bread sticks shaped like swords and baked and marinara dipping sauce. Make blue gelatin, and mix in some treasure including mandarin orange slices or gummy fish of different sizes. Bake a cake in the shape of an anchor, and surround it with mini-cupcakes with golden frosting to symbolize golden coins. Bake a clean coin inside the cake, and give a treasure prize to whoever finds it. Serve fresh fruit to prevent scurvy. - Plan a scavenger hunt.Jupiterimages/Creatas/Getty Images
Provide each guest with a piece of paper with interesting facts about all your guests. Have them complete the sheet by finding one person for each fact and having them sign the paper. The first person to complete the paper and turn it in wins a prize. As an alternative, have a scavenger hunt where you provide teams with a camera and a list of items next to which the participants should take a picture. The first team back that completes all of the pictures wins the treasure. - Provide children with gold coins, sunglasses, fruit and candy. Include candy such as candy necklaces, rings and black gum balls. Wrap all the items in a bandanna, and tie the corners together. Tape candy and other party bag loot to plastic swords, then give them to the kids to take home. Sew black bags, and paint a skull-and-crossbones picture on them. Dry the bags completely, then fill them with candy and other Halloween game toys. Send thank-you notes in plastic bottles.
