    • 1). Scrape loose or excess wax from the iron candlestick with a plastic scraper. If you do not have access to a plastic scraper, use the blunt edge of a butter knife or spoon. Be careful not to scratch the candlestick's surface while you scrape.

    • 2). Place the candlestick into the refrigerator for an hour to make the wax brittle. Break off and scrape away the remaining pieces of wax.

    • 3). Place the candlestick in the freezer for a faster solution. Allow the candlestick to remain in the freezer for three minutes, then remove it and break off or scrape away the remaining pieces of wax.

    • 4). Fill a sealable freezer bag with ice cubes if you do not have access to a refrigerator or freezer, or if your candlestick is too large to fit. Hold the ice cubes against the wax to make it brittle. Break off and scrape away the remaining pieces of wax.

    • 5). Dry the candlestick thoroughly with a soft towel after the wax is cleaned up to remove any residual moisture from the refrigerator, freezer or ice cubes.

    Heat

    • 1). Preheat your oven to its "keep warm" setting or to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 2). Cover a baking sheet with at least three layers of paper towels; these will soak up the wax that melts off of the candlesticks.

    • 3). Set the candlesticks onto the paper towels and put them in the oven for five minutes. Check to see that the wax is melting off the candlesticks and onto the paper towels.

    • 4). Keep the candlesticks in the oven until all of the wax has melted off. Remove the baking sheet and allow the candlesticks to cool before touching them.
