Nystatin, clotrimazole, and miconazole are generics and the topical medications that are usually used.
Tioconazole and butoconazole are recommended generics also.

Oral drugs are the recommended yeast infection treatments for yeast infections that are severe.

Itraconazole and ketoconzole are both generic brands of this drug.
Any medication that is taken orally should be under the advice of a medical professional and with great care, particularly if the woman is pregnant or has a risk of heart disease.
If oral and topical medication prove ineffective, the infection is considered to be treatment-resistance and a vaginal discharge culture or urine is conducted in an effort to identify what type of yeast has caused the infection.
Another option that can be used and even combined with oral or topical medications is herbal and home remedies.
This way you are less likely to aggravate your symptoms and avoid unpleasant side effects.
Drinking cranberry juice, yogurt and eating garlic are all effective in killing the bacteria and are used as natural remedies.
In yeast infection treatment you can also use tea tree oil as an antiseptic.
Douching is another treatment to consider that can be done with vinegar and apple cider.
However, it is always best to seek out medical assistance at the first onset of symptoms and signs when a vaginal infection is suspected.
It is also best to complete the treatment in its entirety once you've began to avoid the bacteria from coming back.
If you are pregnant self-treatment involved a higher risk and the symptoms caused by the vaginal yeast infection can lead you to feelings of uncertainty, and make you believe that you may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease if you've been involved with multiple partners.
