Your situation is not unique.
If you and your significant other have arguments and small spats, consider yourselves normal.
Any couple that believes they will never fight is heading for a big disappointment - because it will happen.
And when it does, most of the time you can get over it and move on.
Then there are the big fights that leave you in a break up.
If this describes your situation, read on to find out what you can do to get your ex back.
One of the biggest obstacles for any couple in the middle of a break up is acceptance.
In some shape or form, you have to own up to your part in the break up.
Right now you probably want to blame your ex for everything.
The truth is, rarely is it just the fault of one person.
This will be the hardest step you must make.
Accept responsibility for your words and actions.
Forgiving each other is impossible if you hold grudges and point fingers.
Do not attempt to move on to this next step until you are able to get through the first step.
You will be wasting your time and your ex's time.
It is time to take time.
Yes, take time away from your ex.
This includes phone calls, text messages, emails, letters/gifts, and visits.
The break up has had an impact on you - sometimes more than you think.
If you go rushing back to your ex, pleading with them to take you back or telling them you will change for them, then nothing I say here will help you.
Take time as a single person and realize you can make it on your own.
Your self-esteem needs a lift, as does your confidence level.
Seeing you can make it without your ex and actually "survive" without them will go a long way.
You will also leave quite the impression on your ex too.
They will see that you are a person in control of your life, not someone begging and crying to be in a relationship again.
Once you are confident as an individual and see for yourself that you don't need a relationship to get by, then in small steps, it is time to rebuild your relationship with your ex.
It is important to keep the time together short to begin with - you do not want to overwhelm each other and lose sight of what is important.
You should have learned that some part of your relationship was not working and so in starting over, things will be new.
Talking about the break up is good and getting it out is important, just do not attempt to do it all in one sitting! With each visit, you can talk about what works for the two of you and come up together with solutions to what did not work.
By solving your problems together, it will help strengthen your bonds.
