How to Clean a Discolored Vinyl Floor
- 1). Open doors and windows in the room you will be working in to provide adequate air ventilation.
- 2). Sweep the tiles with a broom to remove the surface dirt. Sweep the surface dirt and debris into a dust pan and discard the contents.
- 3). Equip yourself with a pair of rubber gloves to protect your skin from possible skin irritation.
- 4). Combine equal parts of ammonia and water in a 5-gallon bucket.
- 5). Saturate a sponge mop into the ammonia-water mixture.
- 6). Apply the mixture to the vinyl tiles with the mop. Allow the mixture to sit on the tiles for five minutes.
- 7). Scrub the tiles with the sponge mop. Re-saturate the mop and scrub the vinyl tiles back and forth. Alternatively, scrub the tiles with a soft-bristled brush saturated in the mixture.
- 8). Rinse the tiles with a sponge saturated in cool water. Allow the floor to air dry.
