How to Access the ComboBox Format Color Red
- 1). Open your Access 2010 database. Open your form or create a new form using the "Form Wizard." Choose "Design View" from the "View" menu. If you do not have an older version of Access than 2010, you can still use the steps below; however, the location of the tools may differ in your version.
- 2). Click on the "Use Control Wizard" button from the "Controls" group under the "Design" tab to select the option. This option must be selected to use the combo-box field.
- 3). Click on the "Combo Box (Form Control)" button from the "Controls" area. Choose the area of the form from the "Details" section where you would like for the combo box to appear. Place your cursor in this area and draw your combo box to meet the needs of your field. The combo box wizard will appear and prompt you through the creation of the control. Create your own value list for the combo box or select a field from the table or query that contains the data you wish for the combo box to display. If you already have a combo box on your report that needs to be formatted to change the color to red, you can skip this step and move on to the next.
- 4). Right-click on the combo box to open the "Properties" window.
- 5). Select "Fill/Back Color" from the list to open the color window. Select red from the color boxes to fill in your combo box with a red background.
- 6). Select "Font/Fore Color" to modify the color of the text or values in the combo box.
- 7). Select "Conditional Formatting" to display a red background when the field equals a specific value. For example, if you want the field to appear with a red background when the text displays "True," select "Conditional Formatting." Follow the prompts in the window and select "Field value is," "equal to" and "True." Modify the background color to set it to red. Whenever "True" appears in the field, it will show with a red background.
- 8). Save the form and select "Form View" from the "View" menu to display your form with the formatted combo box.
