Salubrious Green Smoothies

As I point out in my book, Health Bliss: 50 Revitalizing NatureFoods & Lifestyle Choices to Promote Vibrant Health — is your day filled with endless routines and "busyness" from early morning to night? Do you wish you had a lot more time to devote in your kitchen area preparing healthful meals? Have you ever longed for a delicious and nutritious meal that would take only minutes to make and seconds to clean up? Or have you wondered what you might eat for a snack that would satisfy you, yet not overburden your body and digestive tract with too many calories? Well, you're in luck today because I have a great remedy to all of these quandaries. Enter Salubrious Green Smoothies.

I really like the adjective salubrious, which means "favorable to or promoting health or well-being." An apt synonym is healthful. So this melodious word—salubrious—beautifully describes my special smoothies. Before highlighting their benefits, let's initially explore the importance of eating sufficient quantities of fresh produce.

In a recent assessment of 206 human epidemiological studies, compared with all other beneficial foods, green vegetables showed the strongest protective effect against cancer, coronary heart illness, joint disease, diabetes, weight problems, and elevated blood pressure. Unfortunately, only one American in 500 gets sufficient calories from vegetables to guarantee this defense.

Undoubtedly, high green-vegetable consumption is linked with effective protection against disease. That is why the cornerstone of a heart-healthy, cancer-protective, and longevity-favorable diet plan is to eat as many raw and steamed green vegetables as you can. The more of these nutrient-rich foods you eat, the higher your diet will be in nutrient density...

Blended Salads

For most, eating so much fresh produce is challenging to stomach (I couldn't resist the pun) or to fit into a active lifestyle. Here's my remedy: Blend your fresh salad. Before you turn up your nose at this recommendation or maybe turn to another page of this site before finishing this section, I want to inspire you to give it a try. Blended salads actually do make a especially healthful, delectable dish and are fast and straightforward to make. I eat them frequently. For instance, I frequently take baby romaine lettuce and blend it with a banana, an apple, and a couple of dates...

Blending fresh salad vegetables, particularly leafy greens, with some fresh fruit and water, tea, or fresh fruit juice can make a resplendently green, luscious smoothie. Raw greens are "wonder foods" for your wellbeing, and when you eat them in this form, you get a lot more of their effective vitamins and nutrients. The blades of the blender break down the cell walls, dramatically increasing the bioavailability of the vitamins and nutrients. This means that these beverages are simple to digest. Simply put, when blended well, all of the useful vitamins and nutrients in these fruits and vegetables are divided into such small particles that it becomes simple for the body to assimilate the vitamins and nutrients. They begin to get absorbed in your mouth...

By consuming two to three cups of these smoothies daily, you'll consume just about sufficient greens to nourish your body, and they'll be effectively assimilated. You'll be receiving raw, enzyme- and nutrient-rich blends of fresh fruits and vegetables. Moreover, they help heal, detoxify, and rejuvenate your body; accelerate fat reduction; and restore youthful vitality. I'm frequently told by newcomers to these beverages that after a couple of weeks of consuming them, the've lost their appetite for junk and processed foods and have actually begun to hunger for more greens.

To create these fresh salad smoothies, you must start with a top-quality blender and juicer. I use and suggest The Total Blender. It's indispensable in my kitchen, cuisine classes across the country, and personal culinary instruction. Several times every day, this easy-to-use blender helps me to produce a wide variety of mouthwatering dishes.

Creating Salubrious Smoothies

Green smoothies consist of a combination of greens, fruits, and drinking water or another liquid base. With a ratio of approximately 60/40 of fruit to veggies, the fruit taste dominates the flavor, yet the green vegetables balance out that sweetness, adding a delectable zest. While I typically use drinking water as a base, I also use a wide variety of other liquids that you may want to consider, as well.
