How to Install New Upgrades in Windows XP
- 1). Go to the Microsoft upgrade page via microsoft.com. Read the description of the current upgrade to see if you want to install it. Sometimes, you may not need any of the new features offered.
- 2). Click the download button. You can either hit "Run" to start the download immediately or hit "Save" to copy the download to your machine for a later time.
- 3). Install your download. Open the file you downloaded and the Windows upgrade installer will boot. Follow all on-screen instructions to finish the installation.
- 4). Restart your computer. This will finalize the process. To make sure the download took effect, go to "My Computer" and right-click it. Select "Properties" from the menu. You will be able to see your Windows version at the top of the page. You should now be able to see the latest upgrade you installed in this location.
