How to Get Stains Off a Lampshade
- 1). Fill a bathtub with cool water. Add 1 cupful of mild liquid detergent and swish to build up suds.
- 2). Place your lampshade in the tub and lift it up and down, swirling it through the water.
- 3). Use a soft cleaning brush to rub out any spots or stains. Dip the shade up and down again.
- 4). Empty the tub and refill with clean water. Rinse the shade by dipping it up and down and swirling it through the clean water. Repeat this step twice.
- 5). Blot the lampshade with a towel until nearly dry, then put it back on the lamp. Turn the lamp on, so light from the bulb will finish drying the shade.
- 1). Vacuum the lampshade with a hand vacuum or the small brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner.
- 2). Wipe the shade with a microfiber cleaning cloth.
- 3). Rub out any remaining spots or stains with a soot- and dirt-removal sponge. You can find these at hardware and home-improvement stores.
