    Power Cycling

    • As users browse the Web, send and receive text messages, make calls and listen to music on their RAZRs, extraneous data builds up in the temporary memory cache. This data clog takes away vital memory space needed by the operating system to efficiently run and causes issues with freezing and crashing as a result. Turning the phone off and back on will clear the temporary cache and potentially resolve any minor software issues. To do this, hold down the red "End Call" until the RAZR powers off. Release and then repeat the key press to turn the RAZR back on.

    Master Reset

    • If the issues persist after a power cycle, a more aggressive form of device reset may be needed to resolve the problem. Performing a master reset will revert most of the RAZR's settings back to their factory default and restore device functionality as a result. Users should note that while pictures and music files are not deleted in the process, they will need to once again set up their desired wallpapers and ringtones once the reset has been performed. To initiate a master reset, press the "Menu" key (looks like a minus sign) and select "Settings," "Initial Setup" and then "Master Reset." Enter your security code, if prompted, and allow the phone to power itself off and back on.

    Master Clear

    • When aberrant behavior continues to plague the RAZR, it may be necessary to completely reset the device by performing a master clear. This process purges the phone of all data and rewrites the operating system using a protected backup. Users will lose any data that is not stored on a SIM card or memory card, so performing a backup of vital data may be necessary before undertaking this process. To master clear the RAZR, press the "Menu" key and select "Settings" > "Initial Setup" > "Master Clear." Enter your security code if prompted and allow the phone to power itself off and back on.

    Repair or Replacement

    • If users are unable to navigate the display or if all software-troubleshooting measures fail, the root of the issue may lie in damaged hardware inside the RAZR. Users should contact their wireless carrier to discuss options for repair or replacement.
