Buzzbait Vs. Spinnerbait
- Both lures have the same components, except for the spinner blade. Both buzzbaits and spinnerbaits consist of a large hook protruding below a pointed lead head. The hook is covered by a plastic skirt. A wire arm projects out of the head and bends at a 90-degree angle. The spinner blade attaches to the end of the wire arm.
- The buzzbait spinner is a propeller spinner. It is narrow at the top and wider at the bottom. The bottom of the blades are curved at a 90-degree angle. This spinner design churns a lot of water, attracting fish.
- Spinnerbaits have traditional spoon-like, cupped spinners like those found on inline French fishing spinners. The blades reflect light, which attract fish. Spinnerbaits may have a single spinner blade or multiple blades -- blade style varies as well. Colorado blades are rounded. Willow leaf blades are narrow and willow leaf-shaped. Indiana blades are somewhere in between.
- The wide blade of the buzzbait spinner causes it to stay right on the surface where it sputters and creates a lot of commotion. Spinnerbaits run below the surface and don't churn up as much water. Rounded Colorado blades create resistance and cause the spinnerbait to run shallow. Willow leaf blades create less resistance and allow the spinnerbait to run deeper. Spinnerbaits with Indiana blades run at a medium depth.
