Data Recovery for RAW File Systems
- 1). Download and install a free copy of PC Inspector File Recovery to restore RAW files from a damaged, lost or formatted partition (see Resources). File Recovery can retrieve RAW files from just about any type of storage medium, everything from hard drives to USB jump drives --- the utility can even repair some RAW files that have minor damage. File Recovery lets you specify which hard drive sectors to search, helping you cut down on the recovery time if you have an idea of where the file is on the drive.
- 2). Download a free copy of Raw Copy to salvage your RAW files (see Resources). This tiny, 42-kilobyte utilities program allows you to create an image file from the RAW files on a lost partition and requires no installation. Simply select a "Source" and "Target" drive and then click "Copy" to begin transferring all of the RAW files on the corrupt partition to a stable drive.
- 3). Recover RAW files using a free copy of Pandora Recovery (see Resources). After scanning for RAW files, the utility's file explorer-style menu lets you navigate through folder trees on lost or damaged partitions. You can search for files to recover by name, size, type or creation date. Pandora Recovery also gives you the option to preview files to help you decide whether to recover them or not.
