Batman: Why I Love Batman
Batman has always been my favorite comic book hero.
Without question, the Dark Knight Trilogy (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises) were, in my opinion, the best of the Batman films.
I look forward to the Batman Verses Superman movie coming out in the summer of 2015.
I was a fan of the Batman comic books long before the Adam West TV show.
When I heard there was going to be a Batman TV show, I was excited.
I was disappointed by the show because I much preferred a realistic Batman versus a campy Batman.
Nevertheless, for some strange reason, I watched the TV program and enjoyed it.
To fully understand why I love Batman so much, there are a few things you need to appreciate about my childhood.
I graduated from Mississinawa Valley High School in Union City, Ohio in 1971.
Union City is a small village on the Ohio/Indiana state line.
Union City is famous for "Hang On Sloopy," by The McCoys, the hit tune which is now the theme song for the OSU Buckeyes.
My Uncle Fred and Aunt Deedee (her real name was Cecilia) raised me.
I would see my mother on rare occasions.
I never met my father.
I am an only child who grew up in poverty.
To save money, my aunt and uncle bought me clothes that were way too large, figuring I would eventually grow into them.
Those ill-fitting clothes made me look goofy because I was skinny as a rail.
Since my last name was Gruber, it's no wonder that my classmates called me "Goofy Goober."
That was the equivalent of being a boy named Sue.
I became a prime target for bullies.
After receiving a black eye from a local bully, I sought refuge in my boyhood hero The Caped Crusader.
I borrowed a Batman comic book from a friend and went straight to the bat cave, a.k.a my bedroom.
I curled up in bed, opened the comic, and began to read.
One dark and gloomy night, evil is looming over Gotham City.
Batman's ultimate enemy is spewing forth a tidal wave of sinister laughter.
The Joker became symbolic of all the sinister laughter I had encountered throughout my childhood.
I wanted to be just like Batman.
I then had a reality check.
Unlike The Dark Knight, I was no match for bullies.
I was a ninety-seven pound weakling.
Furthermore, Batman was a fictional character.
Then, unexpectedly, something magical happened.
Another hero appeared out of the blue.
And he was not fictitious.
His advertisement caught my interest.
He was "The World's Most Perfectly Developed Man."
Both his photo and his story inspired by.
Like me, he also used to be a ninety-seven pound weakling.
He also encountered his fair share of bullies.
One of those bullies kicked sand in his face.
This motivated him to make a major transformation through exercise and diet.
I decided that if he could do it, I could do it too.
So I sent off for the Charles Atlas Course, and the rest is history.
Following his exercise regime and getting proper nutrition made a big difference in how I looked and felt.
I've been an advocate of nutrition and exercise ever since.
With adequate exercise and proper nutrition, I believe that most people can be healthy.
However, I don't believe in the "health/wealth gospel," which claims that everybody who is poor or sick did something wrong to deserve it.
As a Christian, I don't believe that everybody who has poor health is being punished by The Almighty.
Sometimes that is the case; but not always.
Sometimes The Lord uses illness for a higher purpose.
A perfect example is Joni Erickson Tada. She is being used mightily even though she had a diving accident and is now confined to a wheelchair.
Would all sick people be healed if only they had enough faith? I don't think so.
Can The Almighty heal anyone of anything whenever He wants?
Naturally.
Is faith important?
Absolutely.
But to imply that sickness is always a result of too little faith or even a poor diet and a lack of exercise is untrue in my opinion.
Nevertheless, many sick people are sick due to a lack of good nutrition and not enough exercise.
In my opinion, we have a God-given responsibility to take good care of our bodies.
Though it's a cliche, an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure.
In The Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve did not need nutritional supplements.
They got all the vitamins and minerals their bodies needed from the food they ate, just as God intended.
But this is not The Garden of Eden... it's not even close.
Our topsoil is depleted. Our food is a faint shadow of what it was meant to be.
Doctor Earl Mindell, one of the world's most prominent nutritionists, says:
"Diet alone cannot supply the amount of nutrients our bodies need, so a daily multivitamin supplement is necessary to reach optimal health.
But not all supplements are created equal; so consumers need to pay attention and choose the best multivitamin available for their health needs."
These are a few of the reasons why become a distributor of organic raw whole food nutritional supplements formulated for optimum health.
These products include everything from weight-loss products and multivitamins to meal replacement drinks and even essential oils.
I can't promise anyone that these products will turn them into Charles Atlas, but you never know.
After searching high and low, plus doing my due diligence, they are by far the best nutritional products I've found.
