How to Extract Windows XP Files From a Recovery CD

    • 1). Insert the recovery CD into your computer and wait for the computer to recognize it. If any pop-ups appear, close them.

    • 2). Open Windows Explorer by right-click the "Start" button and selecting "Explore." Navigate to your CD drive.

    • 3). Locate the "i386" folder on the CD. Since the exact location of this folder will depend on the type of recovery CD you are using, you can either manually browse through the folders on the CD until you find it, or you can use the Search Bar at the upper right corner of the Windows Explorer window to search for it.

    • 4). Click on the i386 folder once you find it, hit "CTRL" and "C" to copy the folder and then click on your Desktop and hit "CTRL" and "V" to paste the folder to your computer's desktop. You will have successfully extracted the necessary Windows XP files from your recovery CD to your computer.
