    • 1). Click "Start" and type "cmd" in the "Search" box.

    • 2). Press "Enter" to display a command prompt.

    • 3). Type "chkdsk x: /r" and press "Enter," replacing "x" with the letter of the drive containing the corrupt, error-prone or missing file.

    • 4). Press "Y" to confirm the disk repair.

    • 5). Restart the computer. The system will repair the disk as the computer loads, reconfiguring the file.
