How to Get Rid of a Bush Stump
- 1). Pick up rocks and debris around the bush stump. Cut the bush stump 3 inches from the ground using a chainsaw.
- 2). Drive the stump grinder over to the edge of the bush stump. Turn the grinder wheel on and lower the wheel into the first 3 inches of stump. Swing the wheel from side to side. Be careful to stand away from the wheel at all times when the machine is on.
- 3). Dig down 4 inches into the soil using the stump grinder and advance the stump grinder. Continue removing the stump by advancing the stump grinder slightly forward to create 4 inches of stump-free top soil.
- 4). Pour dirt into the hole. Smooth the top of the dirt with the back of a rake or your foot. Plant grass or an ornamental plant.
- 5). Use pieces of the stump as mulch or throw away.
