    Protection

    • Two of the main causes for wrinkles are sun exposure and smoking. Smoking breaks down collagen in the face, accelerating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Skin around the eyes becomes thinner and dull, and lines appear around the mouth, aging the skin much faster than those who do not smoke.
      Sun damage causes photoaging, which creates deep wrinkles in the skin after continuous tanning. Sun damage also leads to age spots, and in extreme cases, skin cancer.
      To prevent wrinkles from forming, stop smoking to prevent a dull complexion and the breakdown of collagen. Wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30 when going outdoors, and apply throughout the day for added protection.

    Moisturizing

    • One of the most common anti-wrinkle tips is to exfoliate and moisturize frequently. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the face's surface, revealing fresh, youthful skin. Using an exfoliator also helps to remove skin buildup, allowing moisturizers to sink in more thoroughly.
      Exfoliate twice a week using a fine grain, and follow up with an anti-aging moisturizer. Moisturizer will offer valuable hydration to all skin types and protect it from wrinkle-causing free radicals. Look for moisturizers that contain retinol or collagen to reduce wrinkles and nourish skin.

    Diet

    • It is important to nourish skin from the inside out. Refrain from drinking alcohol, because it increases skin aging through dehydration and inflammation. Alcohol also prevents the body from receiving proper nutrients and antioxidants that protect and moisturize skin.
      Fill your diet with fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains since they are filled with valuable antioxidants. Vitamin C and E work together to restore youthful levels of collagen in the face, so eat citrus fruits and nuts to get these vitamins. Omega-3 antioxidants restore cell structure and help add hydration to the skin.
      Water is important for hydration, as well as for spreading antioxidants throughout the body. Drink at least 64 ounces of water each day to stay hydrated and keep skin fresh.
