How to Re-Glaze Bathroom Tiles
- 1). Re-glaze bathroom tiles every two years to maintain them during everyday wear and tear. Clean the tiles with a mop and hot water to provide a clean, even base for your glaze. Use a sponge to clean the grout around the tiles by hand.
- 2). Choose your glaze or sealer for bathroom tiles. Penetrating sealers leave a layer of silicone behind after they've dried. This provides better waterproofing protection and is more appropriate for areas like bathrooms, where moisture is often present. Tile glazes should contain silicone as well. Unless you're intentionally staining your tile, make sure you purchase a clear glaze.
- 3). Use a paintbrush or clean roller to apply a thin layer of glaze or sealant to your bathroom tile. Work quickly, as the glaze will dry fast. When you finish with the first layer, apply another thin, even layer of glaze over the first. Block off the area and allow at least 24 hours of sheltered drying time.
