Stretches For Flexibility Can Be Helped With Myofascial Release

Stretches for flexibility must be executed properly, after warm up or workout, and some knowledge of anatomy will help a dancer, sports player, or musician get the most benefits from stretching.
Another factor that is involved is myofascial release.
Fascia is a wrapping around all the soft tissues of the body.
It overlaps and slides, facilitating movement.
With chronic tension in the muscles, regardless of the cause, fascia can become sticky and impede ease of movement, as well as decrease the benefits of stretching.
This health of the fascia can be affected by injury, impact, nutritional deficiencies, lack of exercise and other poor lifestyle choices.
If you are performing muscle stretches regularly, you may find that you have stiff spots that just will not loosen up.
You may be trying to do the splits, get your arabesque higher, or improve your golf swing.
Whatever your least flexible area is, if stretching does not help enough, understanding how to RELEASE tension before you stretch, should increase the degree of stretch that you get.
It has been demonstrated that when the tension in the scalp, neck, and shoulders is released with gentle massage and stretches, the hip and hamstring areas will be more flexible, before they are stretched.
Perhaps you want to improve your golf swing, through increased ease of movement, which would improve your control and form.
Executing simple muscle tension release in the neck and shoulders would improve any efforts to loosen up the shoulder, upper back, low back, and hip area muscles.
The resulting twist in the swing movement would then incur less effort.
Exercise of any kind improves sleep quality, and decreases stress and anxiety levels.
This healthy lifestyle choice of walking, weight lifting, whatever you may do, then affects a myriad of biochemical and muscle building processes.
When you consider the degenerating diseases that riddle modern cultures such as Diabetes, cancer, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and various auto-immune conditions, it appears that many more should exercise, certainly if you are able.
And proper stretching should follow a workout, a walk, a dance class or a sports game.
