How to Restore an iPod With Its Previous Software
- 1). Ensure that you have the most recent version of iTunes installed on your computer by selecting "Check for Updates" from the iTunes menu (Mac) or Help menu (PC). Download the latest version if necessary.

Connect your device to your computer with the USB cable. - 3). Select your device in the left column under "Devices." In the main window, select the Summary tab along the top row and click on "Restore" under the Version section in the main window.
- 4). Back up your software settings prior to restoring by selecting the "Back Up" button in the dialog that pops up. This will back up your software to iTunes prior to the software deleting all content on your device.
- 5). Select "Restore" in the dialog box that follows, which asks if you want to restore your device to its factory settings.
- 6). Click on the "OK" button in the dialog that appears once your device has been restored.
- 7). Select an appropriate backup from which to restore your device when prompted in the main window of iTunes. If you have backed up more than one device or have created multiple backups for your device, select the appropriate and most recent backup from the drop-down menu and click "Continue."
