Can You Really Live Your Best Life Now?
Minister and Author, Joel Osteen's book, "Your Best Life Now", has caused many people, including christians, to seek their best life here on earth.
He says that "God wants to increase you financially.
" And he actually preaches and believes that this is what God wants.
I have to admit that I read Osteen's book and was sold on this belief at first.
We all want to be wealthy, financially secure people and believe that God will bless us in order to reach this goal.
If God has truly blessed you to have wealth and you've achieved this wealth in a positive way, then bless you.
But is money the way to find true happiness? I believe God blesses those so they can help others less fortunate.
Not all of us will be blessed in this manner, but God gives all of us gifts in order to help one another, that may not have anything to do with money at all.
But the true question is if our best life is now or is our best life in the world to come in heaven? If you are a non-believer your best life can absolutely be right now, because you have nothing else to look forward to.
And you may believe this is all there is.
But as a Christian believer, you know this life can't possibly be the best life, because God said we would suffer here on earth through sin, age, sickness and eventually physical death.
No matter how much money you may have, we all know we can't take it with us when we die.
And Matthew 6:19-21 says, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
" If you have ever met someone whose life is all about pursuing wealth and pleasure, it is obvious, because that's all they talk about.
Luke 6:45 says, "His heart is filled with the things of this life, and out of the abundance of his heart, his mouth speaks.
" This person has no time for God because he's too busy trying to live his best life now.
For Mark 8:36 says, "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his soul?" But doesn't God want us to be comfortable and financially secure? God never promised us health, wealth or success in this life.
And the church shouldn't fill our heads with this illusion.
But if we only trust and believe in Him he will take care of our needs (not necessarily our wants), spiritually and financially.
Faith is the key.
The "live your best life now" theory is nothing more than the "positive thinking" theory repackaged.
And if you accept Jesus Christ as Savior, your "BEST LIFE" will be spent for an ETERNITY IN HEAVEN with him!
