How to Polish Clear Plastic Windows
- 1). Create a solution of 1 tsp. of mild liquid dish soap and 1 gallon of warm water in a plastic bucket. Mix the solution to thoroughly dissolve the soap in the water.
- 2). Saturate a microfiber cloth in the dish soap solution. Gently wipe the cloth over both sides of the plastic window to remove bug carcasses, dirt and grime. Periodically rinse the cloth with fresh water to prevent reapplying abrasive grime to the plastic surface.
- 3). Rinse both sides of the window with fresh, warm water to wash away grime loosened by the soap solution.
- 4). Wipe both sides of the window with a terry cloth towel until the plastic is completely dry.
- 5). Apply masking tape to painted surfaces surrounding the window.
- 6). Apply fine grade buffing compound to both sides of the window to remove any scratches, haze or surface imperfections. Read the buffing compound manufacturer's instructions to determine the exact amount of compound to use.
- 7). Rub another microfiber cloth in circular motions over the window until the buffing compound is completely dissolved. Buff the plastic until it shines.
