How to Replant Okra
- 1). Prepare the planting site by incorporating nutrient-rich compost into the first few inches of your garden soil.
- 2). Remove the seedlings from the indoor sowing pots. Do this carefully as to not damage the seedling roots.
- 3). Plant the strongest-looking seedlings 1-inch deep into soil mounds. Space out the soil mounds 12 to 24 inches from each other.
- 4). Stick your finger into the soil where the seedlings are growing. Only water the seedlings if the soil is dry 1 to 2 inches into the soil. If you feel any moisture at that depth, wait a few days to check again.
- 5). Harvest the okra when the plant produces pods that are 3 inches long. Wear gardening gloves and cut the pods every other day. If the pod is too tough to cut, discard it, as it is too old to use.
