How to Get Rid of an Autorun File on My Memory Stick
- 1). Click the "Start" button, then click "My Computer" in Windows XP or "Computer" in Windows Vista and 7.
- 2). Click "Tools" then "Folder Options" if you are running Windows XP. In Windows Vista and 7, click the "Organize" button, then click "Folder and Search Options."
- 3). Click the "View" tab. Click the radio button labeled "Show hidden files and folders," and remove the check from the box labeled "Hide protected operating system files." Click "OK" to close the window and return the "Computer" or "My Computer" window.
- 4). Insert the memory stick into your computer. If the autorun file triggers a program to be run, close it, then double-click the icon for the memory stick in the "Computer" or "My Computer" window.
- 5). Right click the file "autorun.inf" and click "Delete." Click "Yes" to confirm.
