How to Put 6 Volt Turn Signals on a Bicycle
- 1). Insert the batteries into each signal light. If your kit comes with two lights, you may have to place a battery (or batteries) in each. If your kit comes with a turn signal/brake light combo, you may only need to insert batteries into the turn-signal slot.
- 2). Open the mounting collar and place it around the steel tube of the bicycle's seat post. Lights have a tab on the back that slides into a slot protruding from the collar; make sure this is snapped into place. Most collars are secured by a Phillips screw. Once mounted, make sure the lights are in a visible position. Make adjustments before snugging the mounting collars.
- 3). Uncoil the wiring and run it toward your bicycle's handlebar. The wiring is made long enough to fit most bicycles. Attach the wiring to your frame with black electrical tape or zip-ties. Ensure there is enough slack so the wiring is not strained, but not so much that it can snag on a moving part of the bicycle.
- 4). Place the signal switch collars around the handlebar tubing the same way you did in Step 2. Ensure they are located in an easy-to-reach location. Make sure the "Left" and "Right" switches correspond with the correct signal lights. Again, leave a safe amount of slack for the wiring to the handlebars. Snug the mounting collars.
- 5). Take a series of left and right turns, ensuring each signal light is functioning.
