How to Get Petroleum Jelly Out of Carpet
- 1). Blot off as much of the petroleum from the carpet as possible.
- 2). Blot a carpet dry-cleaning solution directly on the petroleum stain. This removes most of the stain.
- 3). Mix 3 drops liquid dish soap with 1 cup lukewarm water.
- 4). Blot the soapy water over the remaining petroleum stain. This removes the grease and oil residue. Work the solution down in-between the carpet fibers until the grease is gone. Apply as much of the soapy water as needed to remove the stain.
- 5). Press a cloth into the area to pull out as much water as possible. Spray the area with water and blot dry. Continue spraying and blotting it to rinse out all of the soapy water residue.
