Entering Codes

• All of the cheat codes for "Guitar Hero" are entered at the main menu. A chime will play if the code is entered correctly. Each button must be held down and played with the strum bar when entering it in the code. The cheat codes must be entered quickly in order for them to work. The buttons are referred to by the color: "G" is green, "R" is red, "Y" is yellow, "B" is blue and "O" is orange.
  
  

Full Rock Meter

• The full rock meter cheat keeps the rock meter green no matter how poorly the player actually does on the song. This code effectively prevents the player from being able to lose in "Guitar Hero." The code to have a full rock meter is "Y," "B," "O," "O," "B," "B," "Y" and "O." For the European PAL version of the game, the code is "O," "B," "Y," "Y," "B," "B," "O" and "Y." This cheat is useful for practicing difficult songs because it allows the player to practice the entire song without risk of failure. This code is also useful for new players to be able to play an entire song without failing.
  
  

Unlock Everything

• The unlock all code gives you everything in the game. Normally, a player must earn a five-star rating on every song in every difficulty level to unlock everything in Guitar Hero. This code allows players to play any song in the game without buying them through Career mode. The code to unlock everything is "Y," "O," "B," "B," "O," "Y" and "Y". The code for the PAL version of the game is "Y," "O," "O," "Y," "B," "B" and "Y."
  
  

Novelty Codes

• A few of the cheat codes have no impact on gameplay but alter the visuals during performance. The code to play an air guitar is "O," "O," "B," "Y" and "O." The code to give the audience monkey heads is "B," "O," "Y," "Y," "Y," "B" and "O." The code to give the audience skull heads is "O," "Y," "B," "B," "O," "Y," "B" and "B." The PAL codes are "Y," "Y," "O," "B" and "Y" to play an air guitar; "Y," "B," "B," "O," "O," "B" and "Y" to give the crowd monkey heads; and "Y," "B," "Y," "Y," "B," "B," "O" and "O" to give the audience skull heads.
