How to Choose the Right Curtain Rod
- 1). Measure the area of your window where you plan to hang the curtain rod. This will depend on the type of curtains you're hanging. Some are hung well above the window frame, while others are hung just above it. Your curtains might also be expanded a few inches beyond the window frame, or they may just cover it.

- 4). Decide what size spacer you need for your curtain rod. The spacer is hardware that comes with a curtain rod and expands it away from the wall. This will depend on the type of curtains you're hanging and the look you want. Generally, spacers will extend your curtain rod several inches.
