Twelve Months To Live

103 7
Just once more I long to hear the great, clear orchestration of the spring See daffodils and downy ducklings, dandelions and green, green grasses Feel intoxicated by the perfumes, smells and sights and sounds of spring This to aid my spirit's journeying Once more I'm longing to sit verandahed on a summer's country morn Listening, hear the shrill, repeatings of cicadas' song at heat of noon And melting, lazy, in the strong heat and fullness of rich summer's swoon Observing nature on the farm, listening to the wooing doves at croon Remembering, it swells my heart to bursting as blooms a full blown red rose I yearn recapture earth's experiencing.
Once more to watch the autumn slowness of nature's melancholy change All natural life is quietened now - subdued, slower, human touch, and toil Autumn quietude comes upon the mind as it stores in its memory This brilliant toned yet gentle, restful season nature's annual story Garden showing coloured leaves expressing in last mad splash of glory Rebels, 'fore winter's introspection.
Once more to sit with family by the hearth and hear crackle of the fire Toast my toes, read and chew an apple in comfort of family circle Knowing soon will come kind weather for outside days of sunny pleasure I'm listening to my heart which in the stillness hears Great Nature's calling I do hear it, yet fear it -the message which great Nature seeks to bring I'm sad to hear I'll miss the joys of another spring.
I would like to watch once more the raindrops falling Quenching the annual thirst of white sand and brown clay And snuggle close to dear loved ones by my fireside Rugged safe from cold impersonal wintering of the day And there, fortify my soul for death - and For the inevitable body's weakness and decay...
But most of all I would love to live another year to see and hear How joyful is great Nature's capacity and tuneful power to sing Yearningly, I seek the privilege of another twelve months of life Grant me, my God, that I may once more hear the orchestration of the spring! ..

TO THOSE WHO GRIEVE Away on your wings of grey sorrow Fly up high to elevate your soul Freely expand and open the doors Accept spirit life free as before Search to ease your grief and find comfort Fly up high, be blanched white by the sun Fly far to expand your horizons Penetrate deep, your inner heart's core And then the Great White Wings of spirit Shall unfold, envelop you with peace Bring understanding of tomorrow Explain all the events of the past Fly away on wings of grey sorrow Wing high and be white bleached by the sun Fly freely to blend with your heart's love You'll find life and death really are one.
When you fly away in the daylight Fly to be golden kissed by the sun Suffused with sheer joy and delight now And closer to your true beloved one White wings fly softly in the moonlight Drenched in the subtle magical light White wings bestow you with clarity You'll perceive what you seek with delight Fly tenderly with desire for truth And your white wings will change to fine pearl Entering outer reaches of dark You must fly with your own inner faith On great pearly wings of your wisdom Fly carefully in the cosmos beyond Regions where no moon or sun is there Rare the fine treasures you'll wish to share Prepare now for your own departure When death will come to also claim you Secure the link with your beginnings Return to your secure home's fireside Knowing death is just a phase passing We can never lose those we adore With our turn to fly free and serene We'll join others with whiteness of wing Our companions and friends of before.
