Good Luck Charlie - Overview

Good Luck Charlie is a family sitcom airing on the Disney Channel. The story follows the Duncans, and their three older children: PJ, Teddy and Gabe, who are enlisted to help when parents Amy and Bob have another baby, Charlotte a.k.a. "Charlie."  They then have yet another child, Toby (born during the 3rd season). The episodes follow the Duncan family as they deal with life after babies and the normal social and family things they go through as parents and teens.

At the end of each episode, Teddy makes a video diary entry for Charlie to help her as she grows. The video snippets always end with, "Good luck, Charlie." The series is beloved by kids and families for the clean Disney comedy and the now well-known actors and actresses.

Good Luck Charlie - Guide Review

Good Luck Charlie has been extremely successful as a modern day family sitcom, and it's very popular with tweens and teens. The show features clean family comedy, and the family dynamics are both endearing, attaching viewers to the characters and their lives, as well as hilarious at times -- two attributes which make the series popular with kids and parents alike.

Some episodes of the show involve the siblings getting into fights or arguments and using some rude language, but nothing profane or overly insulting is said. The family members generally show love to each other, in their own way, though there is quite a rivalry between PJ and Gabe. PJ is portrayed as kind of a dolt, and Gabe is the clever one who is always playing tricks on others and getting into mischief, often at others' expense.

The older kids make some bad choices -- sneaking out, hiding things from parents and the like. The behavior is generally dealt with by the parents and the kids learn their lesson. Though a few episodes where the kids get away with more than your own kids might will find you wanting to talk with your kids about the behavior and real life consequences. The show presents many themes and situations that make great springboards for talking with kids about typical teen and family issues like family rules, dating, responsibility and more. Teddy is shown kissing her boyfriend briefly, or almost kissing her boyfriend, in a few episodes.

*Families who enjoy Good Luck Charlie may also enjoy Wizards of Waverly Place or Phineas and Ferb.
