The Nieuw Amsterdam cruise ship of Holland America Line has elegant, contemporary interiors. The 2100-passenger mid-sized ship is filled with interesting artwork and spacious rooms with comfortable seating. The ship has many onboard activities and is designed such that it never seemed to be overly-crowded on our Mediterranean cruise.

Nieuw Amsterdam - Computer Center
The Nieuw Amsterdam Computer Center is in the Explorations Cafe on observation deck 11 forward. The cruise ship also has WiFi in all the public areas and a Digital Workshop computer classroom on deck 2 forward.
Nieuw Amsterdam - The Loft
The Nieuw Amsterdam has three areas dedicated to kids on deck 10 midship. The Loft is for teens ages 13-17, and Club HAL has two sections: one for kids ages 3-7 and the other for kids and tweens ages 8-12. The cruise ship has youth counselors who plan a wide variety of activities for the children and teens onboard. It's fun for the kids to have their own special place to hang out with friends.

This relaxation room at the Greenhouse Spa and Salon on the Nieuw Amsterdam is used as a waiting area for spa appointments. It has comfortable seating and excellent ocean views from its location on deck 9 forward.

Nieuw Amsterdam - Fitness Center
The Holland America Line Nieuw Amsterdam has a large fitness center with all the latest state-of-the-art equipment, including spinning cycles, treadmills, stairsteppers, rowing machines, and weight machines.
The fitness center is staffed with professionals and also has daily classes in stretching, toning, yoga, Pilates, and cardio circuit training.
Nieuw Amsterdam - Elevator Lobby
Many of the Nieuw Amsterdam elevator lobbies have these gorgeous embossed doors, and the use of three chairs as part of the decor is an interesting touch. Very elegant, yet simple.
Nieuw Amsterdam - Shops
The Nieuw Amsterdam has this large area filled with shops. In addition, there are luxury jewelry shops next door.
Nieuw Amsterdam - Meeting Rooms
The Nieuw Amsterdam has several meeting rooms on deck 3 near the shops and screening room. These meeting rooms are most often used for bridge games and group gatherings.
Nieuw Amsterdam - Atrium
The well-equipped Digital Workshop on the Nieuw Amsterdam is used for a wide variety of computer classes in digital photography editing, email, file management, videos, and other current electronic topics are taught each cruise.
The Digital Workshop is on deck 2 aft near the Manhattan Dining Room.
Nieuw Amsterdam - Glass Stairway in Atrium
The atrium on the Nieuw Amsterdam reaches from deck 1 up through deck 3. It's a gorgeous spot, and is dominated by this amazing glass chandelier that changes colors. The atrium also has a two-story, winding glass staircase.
Nieuw Amsterdam - Hallway
The glass stairway on the Nieuw Amsterdam winds its way up from deck 1 to deck 3, connecting the lobby business areas with the Pinnacle Bar and Grill on deck 2 and the Ocean Bar on deck 3.

Nieuw Amsterdam - Lobby
The Showcase at Sea is the large show lounge on the Nieuw Amsterdam. The ship has a large production group of singers and dancers, as well as an orchestra. In addition to production shows, the Showcase at Sea is used for guest entertainers, presentations, and bingo.
In addition to this large show lounge, the Nieuw Amsterdam also has a nice-sized movie theater called the Screening Room on deck 3. Different movies are shown each day.
The lobby of the Nieuw Amsterdam is on deck 1 midship. The reception desk is on one side of the lobby and the shore excursion desk is on the other side.
