So you want to make money blogging? I can't blame you.
Blogging is becoming a very popular way to start a home based business.
Many bloggers make nice 5 figure monthly incomes, and some even make 6 figures a year.
But if you want to be successful at blogging for dollars, you need a plan.
The plan can be very simple.
First you need to choose a topic.
Make a list of about 5 to 10 things that you know something about.
The list can be made up of hobbies, knowledge you've gained reading about an interest you have, or about what you do now for work.
Just make a list of 5 to 10 things that you know something about.
Next look at the list and decide which you want to blog about.
When deciding think about which one other people want to know about, and are willing to spend money in that area.
Let's look at training dogs for bird hunting.
Maybe you know a lot bout that, or have an interest in that area.
Do you think people spend money on products to learn how to train their dogs? Oh Yeah! So using that example, let's make a plan for our blog.
1.
Decide on a product to sell
Making money with your blog is all about making sales.
So you have to start here.
Search for products that you can sell on your blog.
Don't worry, you're not going to be making hard sales pitches.
Your going to recommend products and let the product owner do the hard selling.
So do a search for your topic with the words affiliate product behind it.
In our example we would search for "bird dog training affiliate program.
" Then choose a product or a few products that you like.
Another way to find products is to join ClickBank, CommissionJunction, or another affiliate product network.
They will have a listing of a lot of products that owners are looking for people to sell.
2.
Find keywords for your topic and product.
If you're not already familiar with the term, Keywords are the words or phrases people type into search engines to find what they are looking for.
So take the main terms you would use to search for information and make those your blog categories.
Why? Because categories are a major component of getting your posts indexed by the search engines.
You can go to WordTracker and use that as a way to find out what other terms associated with your broad term people search for.
Then write articles based on those keywords, posting them in the category that matches.
Use the keywords in your title, once in your first paragraph, once in the last paragraph, and a couple more times in the rest of the post.
3.
Buy a domain name
Next go to a domain name registrar and register a domain name, you can do this for about $9 a year.
Find a domain name that will give people an idea of what your site is about.
MyGreatWebsite does not tell anyone what the site is about.
BirdDogTrainingSecrets tells anyone who sees the name what kind of information they can expect.
After you get your domain name you need to get a hosting account.
You can get this for about $5 a month.
If your hosting has what is called Cpanel, installing a WordPress blog will be easy.
You host will tell you how to access your Cpanel.
Just go there and find a smiley face icon that says Fantastico and click it.
It will open a page and you will see on the left side a link that says WordPress.
Click that and it will ask you to answer a few questions, then with a couple of clicks of your mouse, your blog will be set up.
4.
Start Blogging For Dollars
Now comes the fun part.
Start blogging about the topic you have chosen.
Remember to use those keywords you generated earlier.
That is what people are searching for.
Don't ignore the words that only get 10 or 15 searches.
Those will be easier to rank for, and once you're ranked for those, your ranks for the more competitive words will follow.
Provide information that readers will like and find useful.
Then every few posts add a product review or product recommendation.
Be careful though.
Don't recommend just any product.
Your reputation is on the line.
If you review a product that you don't like, say so.
Tell what is good about it and what you think is bad.
Still provide a link because even if you don't like it, your readers might still want to check it out.
Not everyone is going to like the same thing, and what you think is a bad product might be exactly what someone else needs.
5.
Work On Getting Back Links
Back links are links from other websites that point to your blog, or even better to a specific post on your blog.
There are a lot of ways to do this, like take some of your posts and submit them as an article to an article directory.
You are allowed to put a resource box at the end of your articles.
You want to include a link to your site in the resource box.
The articles you submit can then be used by other website owners on their site.
This is good because every time your article is used on another website, it adds another back link.
Back links are a way search engines judge how popular your website is.
every back link is a vote saying your site is trusted and respected.
If you want to start blogging for dollars you need to set your blog up the right way.
These are a few tips to get you started down the right path.
To help ensure your success, you need to find a guide to show you the steps to take so you can make full time money with a part time blog.
