Blogging - Keywords, Content, and Advertising

103 9
Most people who want to blog come to me to ask what they should write about.
That is the big question that worries people.
At first it seems like you can write about anything, like you have too many possible topics.
The truth is that you actually have a narrow topic range that you need to stick with if you want to build a readership.
A reader wants to go to a blog and have an idea of the content, style, and tone that they can expect.
If on Monday you post a blistering political critique, while on Wednesday you are talking about the latest skin care product, this is just going to be chaotic.
Readers won't respond well to this.
Instead, pick one or maybe two topical areas and stay there when you do your writing.
Picking your niche is the most important thing, because that will then make it easier to pick the individual topics.
You won't talk politics if you are a makeup blogger, or vice versa.
Still, sometimes we all get stuck.
Here are some tips for if that happens to you: Make use of your keyword tool.
If you use Google, you can get a free keywords tool as part of the AdWords program.
Go to Google, make a free AdWords, account, and check the Keywords tool.
Here is how it works.
When you enter a keyword and click search, Google then provides thousands of keywords that are related to the first word you searched on.
If you are stuck for what to post about, put a couple key words into the search field from posts you have already done, click search, and choose a topic from the results that come up.
You might even choose one of these to be a sub-niche for your blog.
Check to see what keywords people use to find your site.
You can find this via traffic analytics scripts.
Google provides this information via Google Analytics.
You can use it to see what keywords people are searching for that bring them to your blog.
For instance, suppose your blog is about digital cameras.
You go to check the Google Analytics and you find that the most popular keyword phrase that brings people to your blog is "digital slr camera reviews.
" Well, write a post or two on this topic! Get reader feedback.
If you are really in a slump, this can be a great way to reinvigorate your creative process.
Ask your readers for input about what they want to see featured on your blog.
Chances are you will have plenty of recommendations to choose from.
