    • Rhinocort Aqua is a nasal spray that eases allergy symptoms such as runny nose, congestion and sneezing. It is most commonly prescribed for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, or hay fever.

    Function

    • Rhinocort Aqua is a preventive medication. It functions by stopping inflammatory substances from being produced, leading to a decrease in nasal secretion.

    Rhinocort and Pregnancy

    • In 2004, Rhinocort Aqua became the first FDA-approved medication for the treatment of rhinitis. The drug has received a Category B rating from the FDA, meaning that as of 2009, there is no evidence that it can harm a developing baby.

    Side Effects

    • Possible side effects of Rhinocort Aqua include sore throat and nosebleeds.

    Warning

    • Pregnant women should consult with their doctors to determine whether or not use of Rhinocort should be continued during pregnancy.
