How to Make Your Website Your Most Valuable Asset

Recently me and my wife Kelly went to the bank in order to consolidate our debt.
We are trying to get rid of all the loans/credit cards that we have and create just one large loan that we can focus on paying off.
This will clear our headspace and make paying off our debt easier.
It was much too difficult having so many different smaller loans and it made our debt overwhelming.
One of the things that we had to do in order to be approved for the new loan was to calculate the total net worth of everything that we owned.
We had to combine the value of our cars, our rings, my computer, and all the other stuff that we own.
I was completely SHOCKED to discover that my website was worth more than all of our other assets COMBINED.
This was an incredible shock to the both of us and I must admit I was quite proud of my achievement.
In just 12 months I have been able to create a website of great value that if I needed to sell I could for a nice sum of money.
I checked out the value on mywebsiteworth.
com and it is worth an estimated $10,000+ (which is about $15,000 AU).
Can I Sell My Website? Of course you can sell your website, that is if there is someone willing to buy it.
If your website is half decent then I am sure there will be someone who is willing to buy it from you.
The best place to sell your website is sitepoint.
com and there are people selling websites for upwards of $100,000 on sitepoint so you can make a lot of money from creating and selling websites.
So I bet you want to know how you can make your website your most valuable asset.
I am going to let you in on the major things that people look for when they are buying a website and how you can make your website more valuable.
1.
Build Traffic
Building consistent traffic is one of the best ways to increase the value of your website.
I say this time and time again "you can have the best website in the world, but if no one visits it then it is as if it doesn't exist".
Building traffic can be easier said than done, but with a little effort and some smart tactics it is not too difficult to build sufficient amount of traffic to get a good deal on your website sale.
I am not going to go into explicit detail on how to do this (you could write a hundred books on this topic and still not cover it in enough detail), but you should be using these following methods to attract traffic.
Search Engine Optimization Blog Commenting Forum Marketing Competitions Guest Posting 2.
Build RSS Subscribers
Another great way to increase the value of your website is to gain RSS subscribers.
One website might have 10,000 pageviews per month but no subscribers and will sell for under the $1,000 mark.
Take that same website and give it 1,000+ RSS subscribers and it will sell for $10,000+ You can build RSS subscribers by writing great content and by placing your RSS subscription option in a prominent place about the fold on your website.
You can also offer people a freebie for subscribing via RSS or better yet you can use a email management program to build your RSS subscribers.
3.
Build Newsletter Subscribers
I mentioned above that you can use an email management program to build your RSS subscribers.
Using this method is perfect because you not only get more RSS subscribers but you get email newsletter subscribers which are even more valuable than RSS subscribers.
You can build you newsletter subscribers by creating a freebie and placing a signup form in the sidebar of your website.
You can also create a squeeze page and use normal traffic building techniques to gain subscribers.
4.
Build Revenue
More than traffic and RSS/Newsletter subscribers revenue will get people over the line into buying your website.
Websites often sell for about 10 months revenue, so if you are making $1,000/month it will be easy to sell your website for $10,000.
There are many different ways you can build revenue through your website.
Try all these different sources of revenue.

Create a Great Look
You know how they say you can't judge a book by its cover? Well most people do judge books by their covers and they also judge websites by the way they look.
If your website looks bad to you it will also look bad to customers and therefore potential buyers.
The better your website looks the more it will go for.
Try using a premium theme on your website to make it more valuable.
I have just had a custom theme created for this website and custom themes can be worth up to $2,000 so this will definitely add value to my site.
