The Apple iPod is a a personal audio device that allows you to bring your music library with you on the go. With the iTunes program, you can regularly synchronize your new music onto the iPod automatically. If your iPod and iTunes won't sync, there may be a few causes for the problem that can be easily solved in a matter of minutes. - On occasion, your iPod may have difficulty bridging the connection to your computer. This may be caused by a faulty USB connector or your computer might just be confused by what's plugged in. Check to make sure the iPod has been recognized by your computer. Open the iTunes program and wait to see if the iPod appears under Devices in the left sidebar to confirm its connection.
- The most common reason for an iPod not to sync is because "Manually Manage Music and Videos" is checked off. If this box is checked off in your settings, your iPod will not automatically sync when you connect it to your computer. Click on the Summary tab for your iPod once iTunes opens. Uncheck the "Manually Manage Music and Videos" box to allow it to sync.
- If your iPod still isn't syncing after you've changed settings in iTunes, the problem may be with the device itself. Reset your iPod by holding down the Play and the Menu button simultaneously for 30 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Connect your iPod to the computer to restore your files and bring your iPod back to its original state.
