Life Cycle of a Wisconsin Fast Plant
- During this first stage of its life cycle, the embryo within the seed begins to grow, cracking the seed and beginning the germination process.
- Once the seed has germinated, the stem of the plant emerges from the soil. As the stem grows and leaves develop on the stem, roots anchor the plant into the soil.
- The tip of the stem develops substantial leaves. The now-established root system grows smaller hairs to aid in the absorption of nutrients from the soil.
- By day 14 Wisconsin Fast Plants are producing flowers. If pollinated, egg development takes place between day 18 and day 20.
- The plant's flowers wilt and seeds are released into the soil to begin the life cycle once again.
