A parking supervisor has a number of duties and responsibilities when it comes to managing a lot parking lot or building. This supervisor maintains the lot, payroll, training and administration of all aspects of the parking services provided. - A parking supervisor is responsible for hiring all the employees of the lot. This includes the cashiers and maintenance personnel needed to maintain the parking lot or building. The supervisor will advertise positions and interview qualified candidates for the positions required. Along with the hiring of employees, the parking supervisor must also discipline the employees.
- One of the duties of the parking supervisor is to train the employees in their job duties or ensuring that they understand their job duties. This will require the parking supervisor to know most, if not all, of the jobs under his direction such as cashier or administrative assistants.
- The parking supervisor will set up and maintain a working schedule for the employees. The supervisor publishes this schedule daily, weekly or monthly depending of the policies of the parking lot. The parking supervisor will ensure all positions are on time and filled in order for the lot or building to run smoothly.
- When dealing with the public on a daily basis, there will be times when customers will submit complaints about service. The duty of the parking supervisor is to listen to the complaint and decide on a proper resolution.
- It is the responsibility of the parking lot supervisor to conduct inspections on a timely basis. This consists of evaluating policies and procedures, conducting maintenance inspections and evaluating operational studies and parking lot needs such as equipment and supplies. One part of this inspection procedure is to maintain documentation and report outcomes to the company.
- Determining the maintenance of the parking facility is another duty of the parking supervisor. The supervisor communicates to the maintenance department about the scope of work required, coordinates maintenance times and directs the maintenance personnel.
- There are times when the parking supervisor will have to make adjustments for special events. Part of this duty is to determine and schedule when these special events will occur. After scheduling these special events throughout the year, the parking supervisor must decide on the extra personnel, maintenance, cash availability and equipment needed during these events.
