How to Replace a Door Window on a 1998 Chevy Tahoe
- 1). Lower the window completely. This will make it safer to remove the glass. Put on the gloves.
- 2). Remove the trim panel around the edge of the door with a slotted screwdriver.
- 3). Detach the door panel channel bolt on the edge of the door. Remove the door-to-ventilator screws under the window and the rubber spacer. Remove the door vent/window run channel assembly from the Tahoe by pulling back on the top vent and lifting the assembly off the door. This will allow access to the window itself.
- 4). Slide the window until the front roller is lined up with the notch on the roller. Remove the roller, supporting the window as you do so.
- 5). Lift up on the window and remove it by pulling it straight out. Lower the replacement window into the door frame and slide it into place until it stops.
- 6). Reattach the roller. Slide the window backward onto the roller and the supporting notch to hold the window in place.
- 7). Reinstall the door vent/window run channel assembly on the door. Reinstall the two screws and the bolt to secure it.
- 8). Reinstall the door's trim panel and test the window to make sure it works properly.
