How to Replace Memory in a Dell D430
- 1). Shut down all computer applications. Turn off the Dell D430. Unplug the power supply to prevent risk of electrical shock. Close the cover and turn the computer upside-down. Slide the two battery-bay latch releases toward the sides of the D430. Slide the battery out toward the back of the laptop.
- 2). Remove the three Phillips screws on the memory/mini-card module cover in the center of the laptop's underside. Tilt the cover up toward the rear of the D430 and remove it. Touch a metal connector on the back of the computer as protection against static electricity.
- 3). Spread apart the securing clips on each side of the memory module until it pops up slightly. Remove the RAM module. Insert a new module into the connector slot at a 45 degree angle, metal contacts first. Press the RAM down flat with your fingers until the securing clips click into place.
- 4). Replace the memory/mini-card module cover. Screw the three screws back in. Replace the battery and turn the D430 upright.
