How to Prepare Hot Pastrami Sandwiches
- 1). Combine 2 tbsp. Dijon mustard and 4 oz. of beer in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and add 6 oz. sliced pastrami. Simmer, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.
- 2). Coat 1 side each of 2 slices of thick rye bread with 2 tsp. butter. Place 1 slice provolone cheese on the non-buttered side of one piece of bread. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the cheese and piece of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Allow cheese to begin to melt slightly before moving on to the next step.
- 3). Remove the pastrami from the pan, shake off excess liquid and pile it on top of the bread in the skillet. Place the other slice of bread, buttered side up, on top of the meat. Flip the sandwich and allow the other slice of bread to become browned. Serve with excess beer and mustard liquid for dipping.
