City Dwellers Keep Up with Satellite TV
The majority of the people who live in the United States are concentrated in big cities. This phenomenon is common throughout the entire world and can be explained in many ways, but most important reason is due to the fact there are more jobs in cities.
Job Opportunities
The most important reason why people tend to concentrate in metropolitan areas around the world is because these areas are where a lot of jobs are. This is due to the high population density in these areas that provide services on a much larger scale than outside of metropolitan areas.
Everyone must make a living in order to survive, have a family, and be able to have fun in their spare time, and cities are the easiest places to get a job. It is not to say that you will be able to get the exact job that fits your personality or your college degree, but the possibilities of getting a job in general are much better than in a small town.
Small towns are almost always more difficult places to get a job. The main reason is that due to the fact that there are generally a smaller amount of people living in the town, less services are need to keep the whole population of that town satisfied. The basic commercial requirements are minimal. As long as there is a grocery store that always has a reasonable amount of food in it, a gas station where people can fill up their vehicles, and a few more stores that provide some other basic necessities, the peoples' needs are met.
Another reason that it is more difficult to get a job in a small town, is due to the fact that these communities can be very closed in nature. This is to say that people who come from outside of that small community can have a worse chance of getting any job there because as an outsider, you are not trusted. They do not know you and therefore do not accept you, and could possibly consider you to be a threat. This is not always the case but it frequently happens.
Leaving the City
When it comes time to go on vacation many people who live in big cities choose to go on vacation to places that are very different from where they live. Many choose to go to smaller towns in the United States where they can visit mountains, lakes, and other secluded places to take advantage of the wilderness and silence. But many city dwellers do not feel entirely comfortable without at least a few luxuries that city life provides like satellite TV.
Satellite TV enables them to stay connected to their world. With Satellite TV they can keep up with their favorite sports teams, or watch their favorite television programs that they have become accustomed to watching on a regular basis. No matter what it may be, Satellite TV provides city dwellers with that little bit of home that they need when they leave the metropolis to go on vacation.
